The sixth Waipā Tech Series Meetup of the year on the 7th October saw around 50 local entrepreneurs, innovators, and business owners coming together to explore “Avenues for Government Funding.”
This event was more than just a presentation from five government support agency representatives; it was a shared experience, strengthening genuine connections and practical learnings among the Waipā business community.
Five leading experts took the front of the room, each sharing their business elevator pitch in a lively “Dragons’ Den” style session.

The panel included Maria Vosper-Rink (NZTE), Anna Devcich (SODA Inc), Renee Polaczuk (NZ Export Credit Office), Ross Jensen (CFO Partner, Oxygen Advisors), and Nick Inskip (RDTI Customer Engagement Specialist).
Their insights ranged from the importance of targeted market research and refining business fundamentals to understanding export credit guarantees and the latest updates on R&D tax incentives.
After the “pitches”, attendees split into smaller groups, getting the opportunity to dive deeper into conversations with the experts most relevant to their business needs.
These breakout discussions allowed participants to ask questions, share challenges, and receive tailored advice, creating a collaborative atmosphere where everyone could learn from each other’s experiences, which is fast become a recurring theme at these Waipā Tech Meetups.
This series has become a must-attend for local business growth, offering not just information but a supportive network and a space for meaningful exchange.

The excitement is now building for the final session for the year. Circle Thursday 27 November in your diary and keep a look out for more information, as it’s one not to be missed!
